They will enable the learner to operate in the hospitality field – an emerging market of small, medium and micro-enterprises and community-based operations.
The course will enable learners to qualify for studies in Hotel Management or the Food Industry, enter the labour market or begin their businesses. The course requires dedication, self-discipline and passion. Skill and creativity are not essential – these can be developed.
Hospitality covers theoretical and practical aspects of food and beverage preparation and service, incorporating the principles of safety, hygiene and environmental awareness. It also focuses on the accommodation sector in the tourism industry.
There are financial considerations when doing hospitality studies. A chef’s uniform is needed in Grade 10 until Grade 12. Basic requirements and cost of ingredients for class practicals and exam PATS are to be covered by learners.
