Engineering Graphics & Design

EGD is about Drawings - which are very technical and require the use of instruments. 

We do Civil Drawings such as house plans, site plans and designs.  There is also a mechanical aspect, where we look at machine components, draw the inside of the components, and see how they all fit together. 

The following concepts are included to prepare learners for career pathways and higher education and training in civil, electrical and mechanical technologies:

• Cognitive development (visualisation, insight and perception)

• Acceptable Codes of Practice (SANS, ISO, IEC and SI)

• Free-hand and instrument drafting 

• Projection methods of multi-view drawings

• Pictorial drawings

• Principles of design

• Loci 

• Principles of sectioning

Learners will be expected to buy their drawing equipment.
